Plate Laser Cutting

The plate laser cutting process is characterized by the high precision achieved in every edge of the part, allowing its assembly no additional adjustments, therefore, saving labor hours.

USLC currently operates seven TRUMPF laser cutting machines (CO2 lasers and fiber lasers), enabling us to offer a wide range of cutting possibilities.

The laser cutting process yields the best quality, speed, traceability, and assures at the same time a high level of flexibility that goes from cutting parts with high precision for electronic devices to parts for heavy industry.

Characteristics / laser cutting process:

  • Minimum part distortion due to the small area subjected to heat.
  • No burrs or sharp cutting edges.
  • Maximum laser power: 8000W
  • Working range 4000 x 2000 mm or 157” x 79 “

Materials and maximum thicknesses

  • Carbon Steel    25mm or 1”
  • Stainless Steel 25mm or 1”
  • Aluminium 25mm or 1”
  • Bronze    10mm or 5/16”
  • Brass    10mm or 5/16”

Fiber laser machines

The fiber laser machines improve and widen the capacities of the CO2 lasers, as the first industrial lasers did with the plasma machines.

In fiber lasers, the beam is generated in a truDisk laser, instead of in the well-known resonator, which results in a beam far more focused. Consequently, there is a significant increase in speed when cutting thin materials. In addition, this beam can be confined in an optical fiber to be transferred to the working area, eliminating the mirror system of traditional machines.

All of this makes fiber lasers remarkably better than the CO2 lasers when it comes to efficiency and cutting speed. Furthermore, it enables the cutting of Copper alloys.
